A Day of Remembrance and Solidarity

Clive’s Reflective March with Woody’s Lodge

Remembrance Sunday is a time of reflection and honour, and this year, our Managing Director, Clive Hamilton, experienced it particularly profoundly. His participation in the day’s events was not only a personal tribute but also a meaningful connection with Woody’s Lodge, a charity close to our hearts.

In Clive’s words, “As Remembrance Sundays go, this was a good one!” He felt humbled to march alongside veterans, reservists, cadets, and emergency services personnel. Clive’s experience was marked by a strong sense of community and respect, even under the “horrendous weather that soaked all of us” – a testament to the unyielding spirit shared by those who serve.

The weather was challenging, with rain and wind, but it did not dampen the spirits of the participants. This resilience is a defining characteristic of our armed forces and support services, and it was on full display during the march.

Clive was keen to recognise the efforts of Penarth Town, the Royal British Legion, Penarth ex-Servicemen’s Club, local police, and the RNLI for planning and hosting the day’s events. Their support and dedication were crucial in making the day a success.

Central to Clive’s participation was his involvement with Woody’s Lodge. He remarked, “The work that went in behind the scenes was immense and really makes me feel connected to Penarth and how they support our Veterans community.” Woody’s Lodge provides a crucial meeting space for veterans and service personnel to find support, advice, and camaraderie. It’s a place where they can reconnect with life, their families, and their communities. Clive’s passion for Woody’s Lodge is driven by its significant impact on supporting veterans, reservists, emergency service personnel and their families.

Reflecting on the day, Clive expressed his connection to the cause: “My reason for being at Penarth is driven by my passion for a small charity called Woody’s Lodge’ Giving Space and Time’ who do tremendous work.” It’s a reminder for all of us about the importance of supporting those who have served. We encourage our readers to learn more about Woody’s Lodge and its vital role in our community.
